Day Seven

Green waves on white sand
all things under the sun pause
a turtle swims near

Yep, sorry about another frickin' haiku.

Day 6

I apologize in advance.

vacation

bodies in motion
looking for the sun, finding
only the road home

Day 5

Crossing Texas

Heat waves undulate above the pavement
Dancing to the swing of the oil pumps
a soundless rhythm, urgent yet indolent
pushing down, pulling up
mechanical and primal

knobby knees and bare feet
sticking to the vinyl upholstery
and the windows are all the way down

It's big country, this place
wide open
empty, and full of the hot electric smell of life.

The tech guy is supposed to come again today. $20 says he forgets again. I will probably not be near a keyboard this weekend, but I am sticking to my poem-a-day agenda. I will post them Monday morning.

That is all.

Day Four...

When Mothers Dream

I want to run away from home.
Go elsewhere. Be in absentia.
Abdicate my throne of responsibility.
Take the road not taken.
Walk on the wild side.
I am so sick of being dependable.

I want to wake up with no agenda but my own.
sans all apron strings, in a glorious bubble of anonymity.
It's not the paparazzi I'm hiding from.

I want to wake up at the moment of my choosing.
And all sounds mine, wanted.
And all tastes gratifying, craved.
And all sights quenching, dreamt.

I want to wake up.

Day Three

Sweating this today. The IT guy is supposed to kidnap my computer at 2 p.m.

Rocket Science

I never send postcards
I rarely 'wish you were here'
with every trip, I take a step further
stretching the ties that bind

a missile through the status quo
so to speak
aiming for the ozone

falling, falling
back to now.

Mission accomplished.

Day Two - A Jeweler's Lament

I'll try not to ONLY do haikus.

But if I'm rushed... Well, it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

A Jeweler's Lament

I count the days I was in England
by faded stamps on a forgotten passport
like pearls, they luster to the touch
like pearls, they wax unseen
like pearls, I gather the strand

Fifty seven days is not a necklace.

Day One

The window beckons
shadows, possibilities
these boots walk farther.

And that's one done.

Hopefully, they'll get better.
